Research Interests
The study of social networking and its impact on education
Jolene Kernick has been an instructor in the Informatics New Media program since Fall 2005, teaching M355 Web Design and mentoring independent study and capstone students. Currently she works as a Web Specialist for the Office of Communications and Marketing at IUPUI, where she is webmaster of the Division of Student Life web site and manages content of JagTV.
Kernick spent three years with the School of Informatics, working as a Research Associate for the Informatics Research Institute. Her work included graphic and user interface design for the Ruth Lilly Health Education Center's "Health Education for the 21st Century" project, the Indianapolis Museum of Art's "Art Xplore" pilot, as well as multiple interactive multimedia projects for the School of Dentistry, AMPATH and the IU School of Medicine.
She graduated from the School of Informatics' New Media Graduate Program in 2004 and was the recipient of the 2004 Silicon Graphics Award for Excellence in Digital Visualization at Indiana University.
In her free time, Kernick enjoys going on road trips across the country to visit old friends, playing video games (Guitar Hero and HALO), singing karaoke, and playing the drums.
