Dr. Wang is the Director of Proteomics and an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang spends 70% of his effort for proteomics related service and collaboration projects and 30% of time for his academic teaching and research responsibilities. Much of his work is centered around the development of new methodologies for proteomics. He has been serving as the Director of the Proteomics Core Laboratory at Indiana University School of Medicine since its inception in 2001 and is well versed in all of the proteomic platforms including two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, capillary HPLC, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics. He was a founding Director of the Indiana Centers for Applied Protein Sciences (INCAPS). He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in biochemistry and proteomics related journals. In addition, he also has expertise in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology which uses a biosensor for macromolecular interaction analysis. His own research involves study of drug resistance in ovarian cancer and DNA repair mechanisms in mammalian systems in response to genomic stresses.
Dr. Wang received his PhD in Bio-organic Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and was an NIH postdoctoral fellow studying mechanism of DNA repair in mammalian system at IU School of Medicine. He was a recipient of the HUPO 2004 Young Investigator Award.
