Research Interests
Dean Hook's research interests include the application of intellectual property law to informatics and new media and the emerging field of legal informatics.
Sara Anne Hook teaches I550 Legal and Business Issues in Informatics (entrepreneurship), I350 Foundations in Legal Informatics, I330 Legal and Social Informatics of Security, N480 Technology and the Law, N862 Intellectual Property Law (School of Law), N485/I400 Litigation Support Systems, I410 Electronic Discovery, and A303 Music and Decorative Arts in American Studies (School of Liberal Arts).
Sara Anne Hook is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Director of Legal Informatics and Professor of Informatics at the Indiana University School of Informatics, IUPUI. She is also Adjunct Professor of Law, Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, and Adjunct Professor of American Studies, School of Liberal Arts, IUPUI. Formerly, she was Head Librarian at the Indiana University School of Dentistry and Associate Dean of the Faculties for IUPUI. Dean Hook is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) the American Association for State and Local History and the American Musical Instrument Society. She regularly gives presentations on intellectual property law, electronic discovery, legal technology, legal research techniques and issues related to privacy and security.
Dean Hook plays a variety of musical instruments, including flute, viola and saxophone. She studies Baroque flute with Professor Barbara Kallaur of the Early Music Institute, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She is a deltiologist as well as a member of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis.
