Joseph Maley Scholarship created to support IUPUI Media Arts and Science Program

September 2, 2009 — (INDIANAPOLIS) – The IU School of Informatics has announced the creation of a scholarship honoring the late Joseph Maley. The annual scholarship will be given to a deserving student in the Media Arts and Science Program at IUPUI, based on the student’s merit and academic achievement. The first award will be given in spring 2010 and will continue until 2012.

MediaSauce Scholarship created to support IUPUI Media Arts and Science Program

August 28, 2009 — The Indiana University School of Informatics has announced the creation of a scholarship supported by MediaSauce to be given to students who are studying in the Media Arts and Science Program at IUPUI. The inaugural scholarship will be granted in spring 2010 to a deserving student, based on their merit and achievement within the program.

MAS class project blossoms into bicycle safety Web site for Riley Hospital

source: Riley Hospital for ChildrenAugust 26, 2009 — When Dr. Karen Stroup, IU School of Medicine, and Janet Everly, IU School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences visited Edgar Huang's Media Arts and Science class last year, they arrived with an idea for a Web site.  The duo left having planted a seed that eventually blossomed into a high profile offering by Riley Hospital for Children.

John Ludwick to give Heartland Film Festival lecture

John B. LudwickAugust 19, 2009 — John Ludwick, lecturer, IU School of Informatics, Media Arts & Science program, presents "Animated Filmmaking: Emotions in Motion". The free lecture is being offered during this year's Heartland Film Festival. Sponsored by the Heartland Film Institute, Ludwick's talk is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10.

Leading IUPUI professors will engage the campus and community in discussions about rapidly changing fields of inquiry in this on-campus lecture series. The speakers will share their expertise and insights regarding the applications of their current research endeavors.

MAS grad is keynote speaker for Black Entertainment Television (BET)

Virginia RichardsonJune 23, 2009 — Virginia Richardson, a 2007 Media Arts & Science graduate, served as a keynote speaker recently for Black Entertainment Television (BET). Richardson addressed attendees at BET's internship orientation, sharing with students the importance of higher education, and the value of developing a "personal brand" in the workplace.

Informatics medical animation featured in public television series on health

That’s been the longtime mantra of Albert William, an IUPUI research associate. To that end, a health-related animation project created by William is featured in an important series of broadcasts on public television stations across Indiana.

IUPUI SIGGRAPH chapter welcomes back media arts and science alums for student exhibition

April 27, 2009 — The local SIGGRAPH chapter at IUPUI recently co-hosted a technology exhibition and showcase of computer graphics projects created by IUPUI students. Sponsor of the event was the Purdue University School of Technology’s computer graphics and technology department at IUPUI. SIGGRAPH is the leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of computer graphics.
