IUPUI Human-Computer Interaction Program sponsors World Usability Day conference

October 2, 2009 — As part of World Usability Day, the Indiana Chapter of the Usability Professionals' Association is hosting an event to promote the exchange of ideas on sustainability as it relates to usability and product development.  The IU School of Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction Program is co-sponsoring the event.

IU workshop to increase awareness about advantages of databases in research

As a result, researchers are finding that manual processes for data and traditional tools such as Excel are no longer adequate and they need assistance with data-related issues.

John Ludwick to give Heartland Film Festival lecture

John B. LudwickAugust 19, 2009 — John Ludwick, lecturer, IU School of Informatics, Media Arts & Science program, presents "Animated Filmmaking: Emotions in Motion". The free lecture is being offered during this year's Heartland Film Festival. Sponsored by the Heartland Film Institute, Ludwick's talk is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10.

MAS professor kicks off IUPUI Cutting Edge Lecture Series

Richard EdwardsAugust 19, 2009 — Richard Edwards, associate professor, IU School of Informatics, Media Arts & Science program, will join five fellow IUPUI faculty members for this semester's Cutting Edge Lecture Series. Leading IUPUI professors will engage the campus and community in discussions about rapidly changing fields of inquiry in this on-campus lecture series. The speakers will share their expertise and insights regarding the applications of their current research endeavors.

School presents diplomas to May 2009 graduates

May 13, 2009 — A graduation recognition dinner and Mother's Day commencement ceremony brought to a close the academic journeys of graduate and undergrad students in the IU School of Informatics at IUPUI. 179 students received their diploma during the School's commencement exercise Sunday, May 10 at the Indiana Convention Center.

IU School of Informatics hosting dinner and diploma ceremony for its graduates in conjunction with IUPUI commencement

April 30, 2009 — Mother’s Day will once again carry special significance for IUPUI graduates and their families, including 179 newly minted grads of the IU School of Informatics. IUPUI commencement exercises will be held Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10 at 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. in Halls A-B-C of the Indiana Convention Center downtown. The School of Informatics will participate in the 10:00 A.M. ceremony.

IUPUI SIGGRAPH chapter welcomes back media arts and science alums for student exhibition

April 27, 2009 — The local SIGGRAPH chapter at IUPUI recently co-hosted a technology exhibition and showcase of computer graphics projects created by IUPUI students. Sponsor of the event was the Purdue University School of Technology’s computer graphics and technology department at IUPUI. SIGGRAPH is the leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of computer graphics.

IU School of Informatics announces Semester II Colloquia

January 15, 2009 — The Indiana University School of Informatics at IUPUI is pleased to announce its academic colloquia series – six one-hour lectures that are free of charge and open to the public. Talk subjects range from human interaction with robots, to proteomics and systems biology; digital video sculpturing, to understanding application development using LEGO bricks.
